Few avocations better prepare one for a career in customer-service than cooking. After all, great chefs are creative, detail-oriented, and most of all, passionately committed to satisfying their customers. There’s no better proof of this than Dean Lerner, whose career preparation included both a degree in Culinary Arts from the prestigious Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, as well as a Master’s Degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Houston. Prior to joining Sudler, Dean applied his combination of creativity and business savvy at the Hilton Hotels Corporation in various senior-management positions. His responsibilities included the preparation and oversight of multi-million-dollar hotel property budgets.

At Sudler since 1997, Dean now oversees a portfolio of approximately 2,200 residential condominium and cooperative units. He’s had significant experience in developer turnover, operational systems-development, and capital projects. Recognizing Dean’s ability to inspire others, he was named Director of Training and Customer Service for Sudler. He is also active in a number of property-management associations, including the Board of the Apartment Building Owners and Managers Association (ABOMA), where he is the President and serves on the union contract-negotiating team. He has also served on the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Board of Directors.

Dean earned the Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designation and is a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA). He is recognized as an Association Management Specialist (AMS), as designated by the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers. He is a Certified Property Manager (CPM) as designated by the Institute of Real Estate Management, and holds the State of Illinois Community Association Manager (CAM) license. He is also a licensed Illinois Resident Insurance Producer.

In 2013, Dean was named Certified Property Manager of the Year, by the Institute of Real Estate Management.  And even more impressive, in 2016, he was recognized with the nation’s premier award for property managers: U.S. National Portfolio Manager of the Year.
